INFO: Auto insertion of “dates” in Notepad

This is real cool for people who use notepad to write down any info on a day to day basis

1. Open a blank Notepad file
2. Write .LOG (in uppercase) in the first line of the file, followed by Enter. Save the file and close it.
3. Double-click the file to open it and notice that Notepad appends the current date and time to the end of the file and places the cursor on the line after.
4. Type your notes and then save and close the file.
5. Each time you open the file, Notepad repeats the process, appending the time and date to the end of the file and placing the cursor below it.
Well, the cat’s out of the bag so here’s your official notice:  The testing has begun!
With it’s predecessor being the single highest selling game EVER, beating out even Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Halo 3 looks to tear apart previous records.  If I can dig them up, I have photos of the lines that were formed at BestBuy and EBGames for the release of Halo 2, and if that’s any indicator of the demand for this game, Halo 3 looks to just explode in 2007.

————————–

This will all be right after the launch of "Gears of War", what IGN, OXM, and Gamespot all called, "the 2nd record-shattering franchise for the Xbox".  This game is sheer fun and anyone that liked Halo 2 will be just giddy when they play Gears this holiday season.

And it’ll be after the release of the XBox 360 Vision Camera.  There’s already a series of games that support the camera even though it’s not out yet.  I won’t point them all out but the most obvious of them is "Uno" on Xbox Live Arcade.

Of course Halo 3 will come out after "Viva Pinata", our answer to Animal Crossing, except it leverages XBox Live to connect people’s "farms" together.  Viva Pinata, with it’s cute characters, it’s relatively non-violent game play, and it’s simple yet obsessive gameplay will hook millions of players.  The games fun just to watch on the screen even if you’re not doing anything.

Oh, and there’s "99 Nights" and "Too Human".  Depending on your preferences, this is Microsoft’s answer to "God of War".  I’ve seen "99 Nights" which has been available in Japan for a while now, and it’s incredibly fun.  Really.  All your dreams of just utterly enkillenating 500-1000 enemies simultaneously with a single massive combo attack has been realized… without diminishing the quality of the graphics and animation you’ve come to expect from a next-gen console.  "Too Human" is more adventure like with your powers and capabilities growing with the game.  This is going to be closer in nature to Baldur’s Gate with much better gameplay, 3-D camera graphics, and infinitely better sound & graphics… not to mention a bitchin’ storyline.

And "Chromehounds".  The spiritual successor to MechAssault with more "Mechwarrior-like" features in it.  Chromehounds brings back some of the intricacies of the Mechwarrior gameplay with upgradable guns and armor and better tactical play while keeping the game action packed.  It seems to have suppressed a bit of the "arcade-ish" type of gaming that MechAssault provided in exchange for smarter gaming.  God bless them.

And then there’s the wireless headset.  Finally… no more wires.  It’s all about wireless gameplay and the XBox360’s gonna provide it.
Did you know that Windows Live Search allows you to track packages by typing in tracking codes?

With the new package tracking answer, users can now use Search to access and follow the status of packages delivery process.   We detect a tracking ID in the query and display a link to the right external provider to get shipping status of packages.  In the US, we support FedEx, UPS, DHL and USPS.

Some sample queries:
I don’t know specifics about the XPlayer (or whatever the heck this device is purportedly called)  I’ve heard things but nothing concrete.  Most of the noise comes from the web, friends, customers, etc.

Y’all knew it was probably coming anyway.  Dean Takahashi blabbed about hearing about an "Xboy" resurrection from some inside source he supposedly knows.  Knowing that lose lips sink careers in this company, I’m surprised that anyone would stick their neck out like that but I guess ever since Mini-MSFT got his jollies off publicly cutting into the flesh of the company, becoming Mr. Popular, and watching virulent naysayers dive into his criticisms like germs to an increasingly infected wound, some folks have been a little bolder about showing disregard for corporate policy.

NEWS: Windows Live Promos Launch

So it looks like we’re finally starting to get the promotional campaign rolling for Windows Live.

There’s a lot of investment in this and they’re gonna be relentless in promoting the technology because it’s a very long term investment for Microsoft.  SteveB, our CEO, made it very clear that our original vision of .NET Foundation Services that was put on hold is retaking it’s form as Windows Live under a more well-accepted, user-friendly banner.

The philosophy of Software working hand-in-hand with Networked Services will be something that can be realized by both consumers as well as enterprise customers.

Here’s some sites that explain all the elements of Windows Live.

RELEASE: “Call for Free” on Windows Live Local

Did you know you can call businesses from Windows Live Local for FREE?

Over the weekend, MSFT released the ability to make free phone calls on Windows Live Local (http://local.live.com).  Basically, this is how you use it:
  1. Go to http://local.live.com.
  2. Search for a business or category.
In the results pane will be the listing with a “Call for free” link.
  3. Click on "Call for free".
A dialog box will appear asking for your phone number.
  4. Input your phone number and click “Call”.
Through a checkbox, you can also allow Windows Live Local to remember your phone number through a cookie so you don’t have to enter it again in the future.

Windows Live Local will ring your phone within 1 or 2 seconds and connect you to the business.  When you pick up the phone, you will hear a women say, "Connecting…" and you will be put through.

We’ve been working on this for a while – it’s actually been in MSN Search for a bit but it didn’t show up unless you were using MSN Desktop Search.
MSN Spaces is changing to meet not only the new branding of the services but also the new features coming in the next revision of our blogging & online sharing community.
http://discoverspaces.live.com/

Here’s a list of some of the features coming… and I’ve seen a bunch of other stuff coming, so don’t go thinking that this is all there is!

Breadcrumbs
The breadcrumb trail makes it easy for visitors to jump back in the history of pages that they’ve looked at on a Windows Live Space

Space Content
With quick links to a person’s profile, music, blogs, and photos, they can easily navigate through a Windows Live Space.

Photos & Commenting
Sharing is important – you can upload personal photos that can be viewed easily within the space.  The feature allows uploading up to 500 photos a month and allows visitors to comment on the photos to share their reactions.

Friends
By incorporating Windows Live Messenger as part of a space, users can show contacts & friends on their spaces.  A gleam shows which of their friends spaces have been updated.
