RELEASE: “Call for Free” on Windows Live Local

Did you know you can call businesses from Windows Live Local for FREE?

Over the weekend, MSFT released the ability to make free phone calls on Windows Live Local (http://local.live.com).  Basically, this is how you use it:
  1. Go to http://local.live.com.
  2. Search for a business or category.
In the results pane will be the listing with a “Call for free” link.
  3. Click on "Call for free".
A dialog box will appear asking for your phone number.
  4. Input your phone number and click “Call”.
Through a checkbox, you can also allow Windows Live Local to remember your phone number through a cookie so you don’t have to enter it again in the future.

Windows Live Local will ring your phone within 1 or 2 seconds and connect you to the business.  When you pick up the phone, you will hear a women say, "Connecting…" and you will be put through.

We’ve been working on this for a while – it’s actually been in MSN Search for a bit but it didn’t show up unless you were using MSN Desktop Search.
