SQL Server 2014 will be end of life and no longer supported as of July 9, 2024. Customers that still have SQL Server 2014 deployed on-premises have the following options:
- Upgrade their SQL Server 2014 instances to a supported release, deprecate the server instance or modernize their database by migrating to Azure SQL Managed Instance & use Azure Hybrid Use Benefit to mitigate the costs of migration.
- Migrate out-of-support SQL Server 2014 virtual machine instances to Azure IaaS VMs where they will receive Extended Security Updates at no additional cost.
- Subscribe to “Extended Security Updates” for SQL Server 2014 through the enhanced cloud experience of Azure Arc. Note that your SQL Server licenses must also have Software Assurance to be eligible to subscribe to ESUs. (See Software Assurance on the SQL Server 2014 licenses is required for an ESU subscription)
