INFO: End of Mainstream Support for Office 2010 – October 2015

imageOffice 2010 end of mainstream support is Oct 10, 2015.  What this means is that it is not fully supported on Office 365.  Office 365 Supports N and N-1 versions of Clients in Mainstream Support.

  • Office 365 system requirements – For the best experience using Office 365, we recommend that you always use the latest browsers, Office clients, and apps. We also recommend that you install software updates when they become available.
        • Office 365 is designed to work with the following software:
              • The current or immediately previous version of Internet Explorer or Firefox, or the latest version of Chrome or Safari.
              • Any version of Microsoft Office in mainstream support.
  • Although Microsoft does not recommend that you connect to Office 365 by using older browsers and clients, we provide limited support so long as that software is supported by its manufacturer.

Mainstream Support is the first phase of the product support lifecycle.  At the supported service pack level, Mainstream Support includes:

  • Incident support (no-charge incident support, paid incident support, support charged on an hourly basis, support for warranty claims)
  • Security update support
  • The ability to request non-security hotfixes
