WEB: Office Labs is live!

image Office Labs is live externally! Check it out at http://officelabs.com.

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback after previewing our new site. We launched the site this morning. Think about it as a home for prototypes and proofs-of-concept, all relating to productivity, which will allow our customers to test drive our projects and provide feedback. The feedback and usage data we collect will help product teams in MBD make decisions about future investments.

The main projects currently featured on the site are Community Clips and Search Commands. Other projects of interest featured on the site are InkSeine, Task Market and SharePointPedia.

  • Community Clips is aimed at enabling Office users to easily create and share informal "how-to" videos, opening up a forum for people to help each other become better users of Office.
  • Search Commands is an experiment designed to determine if search is an effective way for users to find commands in complex computer applications. For example, type “math” in Word to find the relevant mathematical equation and symbol commands. The use of search for finding commands takes its inspiration from the evolution of other interfaces for web, email and desktop where browsing and searching is complimentary.
  • The site also features a number of interesting projects from other teams like MSR and SharePoint: InkSeine, Task Market, and SharePointPedia

We welcome any and all comments and feedback on the prototypes or the site itself. There’s no time like the present for feedback!
