Enterprise Directions – SQL Server Consolidation Strategies Workshop
Wednesday, April 16, 2008 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM

Microsoft Irvine Office

This highly interactive workshop will focus on why it is critical to consolidate; a step-by-step game plan on how to approach consolidation; as well as insights on how to dramatically reduce your data footprint. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how to turn your IT infrastructure from a cost center into a strategic asset.

Agenda:

  • 8:30 – 9:00 Check in/Breakfast and Introductions
  • 9:00 – 9:15 Why Consolidate?
Discussion of the real world drivers and compelling benefits of consolidating SQL Server.
  • 9:15 – 10:00 How to Consolidate — Part One
Discussion of the key building blocks of consolidation – including people and process. This session will cover how to decide which version of SQL Server to deploy as part of your consolidation efforts.
  • 10:00 – 12:45 How to Consolidate — Part Two (including small breaks and lunch)
Discussion of the key technical considerations based on real world experiences for consolidating SQL Server instances and databases — issues that can either make or break your consolidation efforts. Demonstrations will be used to highlight key issues.
  • 12:45 – 1:30 Whiteboard Session/Q&A
Instead of a traditional Q&A session, the workshop will wrap up with a highly interactive whiteboard session. Specific scenarios, topical points and challenges faced by attendees will be discussed.
